ALBATROS
Cruise ship built by Wartsila, Helsinki, as Royal Viking Sea for Royal Viking Line. She entered service in 1973 on the ferry service between Bergen and Newcastle before entering the cruising market. Lengthened in 1983 and in 1984 her owners became part of the Klosters/Norwegian Cruise Line group. Transferred in 1991 to Royal Cruise Line and renamed Royal Odyssey. In 1997 she was sold by NCL to a holding company and chartered back, renamed Norwegian Star and operated by Norwegian Capricorn Line out of Australia. Her owners became Star Holdings in 1999 and from 2001 was operated by Star Cruises as Norwegian Star 1. In 2002 she was chartered to Crown Investments, renamed Crown and making casino cruises out of China, before moving to the Mediterranean cruise market in 2003 serving Spanish clients. In 2004 new owners chartered her to Phoenix Reisen for whom she was renamed Albatros to replace the previous ship of that name.
