AMAZON (Royal Mail Lines)
Passenger and cargo liner built by Harland & Wolff, Belfast, in 1959 as Amazon for Royal Mail Lines South American service. Transferred to Shaw Savill in 1968 and renamed Akaroa, Southampton to Australia and New Zealand service. In 1971 she was sold to Uglands Rederi and totally rebuilt as a car carrier named Akarita, then Hual Akarita from 1977. Broken up 1982 at Kaohsiung under the name Akarita.
