ARAWA (Shaw Savill & Albion)
Passenger liner built by William Beardmore & Co, Dalmuir, that entered service as Esperance Bay in 1922 for the Australian Commonwealth Line. In 1928 sold to White Star Line, and in 1933 became part of the new Aberdeen & Commonwealth Line, of which Shaw Savill were managers. Shaw Savill took her over in 1936 and renamed her Arawa. Converted to armed merchant cruiser in 1939 and a troopship in 1941. Resumed commercial service in 1946 and was broken up at Newport, Monmouthshire, in 1955.
