ARGENTINA
Passenger liner built with 2 funnels at Newport News as Pennsylvania for Panama Pacific Line. She made her maiden voyage, New York to San Francisco in October 1929. When the service was discontinued in 1938 she was taken over by the US Maritime Commission, she was then rebuilt with one funnel removed. Transferred to American Republics Line and renamed Argentina making her first voyage New York to Argentina in November 1938. Served as a troopship 1942-46. Resumed commercial service in 1948, now under the Moore-McCormack banner. Laid up in the James River in 1958 and broken up in 1964.

BRAZIL
Passenger liner built with 2 funnels at Newport News as Virginia for Panama Pacific Line. She made her maiden voyage, New York to San Francisco in December 1928. When the service was discontinued in 1938 she was taken over by the US Maritime Commission, she was then rebuilt with one funnel removed. Transferred to American Republics Line and renamed Brazil making her first voyage New York to Buenos Aires in October 1938. Served as a troopship 1942-46. Resumed commercial service in 1948, now under the Moore-McCormack banner. Laid up in the James River at the end of 1957 and broken up in 1964.
