ARKADIA (Greek Line)
Passenger liner built 1931 by Vickers-Armstrong, Newcastle, as Monarch Of Bermuda for Furness Withy, New York to Bermuda service. Troopship during WW2, but in 1947 whilst being re-built for commercial service she was badly damaged by fire. She was then purchased by the Ministry Of Transport and rebuilt as the emigrant ship New Australia, entering service in 1950. Trooping to Korea in 1953. Purchased by Greek Line in 1958 and rebuilt as Arkadia for Bremerhaven-Montreal service. Broken up 1966 at Valencia.
