Product information

ARTEVELDE (Belgian Maritime Transport Authority)
Car ferry built at Hoboken, Belgium, in 1958 as Artevelde for service from Ostend to Dover. She spent the summer of 1976 chartered to Sealink for Dover-Calais service and was then sold to Agapitos Bros. and renamed Aegeon operating from Piraeus to various Greek Islands. Laid up in 1993 and was at Drapetsona from 1995 for conversion into a day cruise ship. On 19/2/1996 while under-going this rebuilding she caught fire, she was then towed out of the harbour for the safety of other vessels but she capsized and sank.
