BALCLUTHA
Built in Glasgow in 1886 as Balclutha, a world-wide deep water trader and as such she sailed around Cape Horn 17 times. Renamed Star Of Alaska in 1906, carrying cannery workers north and salmon back to San Francisco. Renamed Pacific Queen in 1933 generally working as an exhibition ship but did appear in the film "Mutiny On The Bounty" with Clark Gable. Purchased in 1954 by the San Francisco Maritime Museum, she is now preserved, as Balclutha, on the waterfront at San Francisco.
