HMS BASILISK
B-class destroyer built by John Brown & Co, Clydebank, and commissioned into the Royal Navy in 1931. In WW2 she took part in the Battle of Narvik 5/1940 before supporting the evacuation from Dunkirk at the end of that month. She made 2 trips and rescued 695 men then returned to La Penne, Belgium, to evacuate more troops but was attacked 3 times by German bombers. Most of her crew were recued by the destroyer HMS Whitehall and a French trawler, before the Whitehall destroyed the wreck.
