BIARRITZ (Southern Railway)

She completed her trials in 1915 and was then taken over by the Admiralty as a fast minelayer. Entered commercial service for South East & Chatham Railway in 1921, becoming part of the Southern Railways fleet in 1923. In 1939 became a cross-channel troopship and in 1940 made 5 voyages evacuating troops from the beaches of Dunkirk. She then became a Fleet Air Arm torpedo target ship, then a landing ship. After the war she was the Harwich-Hook leave ship until withdrawn in 1949 and then broken up at Dover.
