Product information

BLACK PRINCE (Fred Olsen)
Passenger and car ferry built at Lubeck in 1966 as Black Prince for Fred Olsen. She originally ran ferry services in the summer and cruising in the winter. Between 1970 and 1981 she operated in the summer season for Bergen Line as Venus. Repeating this 1982-84 for DFDS and 1985 for Norway Line. Fred Olsen bought her outright in 1986 and converted her to a full-time cruise ship. In 2009 she was sold to Venezuelan interests as Ola Esmeralda, intended as a cruise ship but spent 2010 as an accommodation ship for Mexican oil workers and then a barracks ship for the United Nations in Haiti. Laid up at Santo Domingo in 2012.
