Product information

BREMEN (Norddeutscher Lloyd)
Passenger liner built by AG Weser, Bremen. On her maiden voyage in 1929 she captured the Blue Riband from Mauretania, but lost it to her sister Europa in 1930, only to win it back in 1933 before losing it to the Italian Rex later the same year. Built with squat funnels, these were heightened in 1930. She sailed from New York without passengers in August 1939, eventually getting home to Bremerhaven in December, painted grey. Used as an accomodation ship she was destroyed by fire in 1941, probably started by a saboteur, and the wreckage was later broken up.
