CALEDONIAN PRINCESS (British Railways)

Built at Dumbarton and entered service as Caledonian Princess on the Stranraer - Larne service in December 1961 for the Caledonian Steam Packet Company. Transferred to British Railways in 1967. In 1975 she transferred to the Weymouth - Channel Islands service, and in 1981 moved to Dover. Sold in 1982 to become entertainment complex at Gateshead and was renamed Tuxedo Princess in 1983. Towed to Glasgow in 1988 and renamed Caledonian Princess, still as a floating nightclub. She returned to the Tyne as Tuxedo Princess in 1998. Sold to Greek interests in 2008 for use as an entertainment complex in Greece and renamed Prince, she was instead broken up at Aliaga, Turkey in 2009.
