DELPHIN (Delphin Seereisen)

Belorussiya-class cruise-ferry built by Wartsila, Turku, as Belorussiya for Black Sea Shipping Company in 1975. Ferry service in the Black Sea and cruising for the British, German and American markets. Originally built with a car carrying capacity, she was rebuilt as a cruise ship in 1986. Chartered to CTC from 1987 to 1992 for cruising from Sydney and in Europe. Registered in Ukraine from 1991. In 1992 she filled with water whilst in dry dock in Singapore and was towed to Bremerhaven for repairs/re-building, emerging at the end of 1993 as Kazakhstan II. She was then chartered to Delphin Seereisen, who purchased her in 1996 and renamed her Delphin. The company folded in 2010 and the ship is now owned by Vishal Cruises of India and chartered to Passat Kreuzfahrten, still named Delphin. In 2018 she was scheduled to cruise from Buenos Aires for Alteza Cruises, but the company never started operations and was accused of fraud. Broken up 2022 at Aliaga.
