DUCHESS OF RICHMOND (Canadian Pacific)
Passenger liner built by John Brown, Clydebank. She entered service as Duchess Of Richmond for Canadian Pacific in 1929 with a cruise to the Canary Islands before taking up the Canadian service. Requisitioned as a troopship in 1940. She returned to commercial service in 1947, rebuilt by Fairfields, Govan, with a new livery and a new name, Empress Of Canada. In January 1953 she caught fire and capsized in the Gladstone Dock, Liverpool. Her remains were broken up at La Spezia in 1954.
