EDAM (Holland America Line)
Cargo passenger liner built in 1921 at Vlissingen (Flushing), with 2 funnels, for the Holland America Line service from Rotterdam to Cuba and Mexico. Rebuilt in 1933/4 with a single funnel and reduced passenger accommodation and then employed between Rotterdam and New York. After the German invasion of the Netherlands in 1940 she remained with the Allies and was managed by Furness Withy. She returned to commercial service in 1946 on the Red Star service from Rotterdam to Baltimore, now only 22 passengers. Laid up in 1953 and sold for breaking up in Hong Kong in 1954.
