Cargo-passenger liner built by Blohm & Voss, Hamburg, as Edfu for the Deutsche D.G. "Kosmos". company. Hamburg-River Plate-Valparaiso service.Sold to Deutsche Ost Afrika in 1910 and renamed Usambara. Originally operating from Hamburg on 'Round Africa' voyages she later moved to the Durban to German East Africa to Bombay service. At the outbreak of WW1 she was interned at Tenerife and ceded to France in 1919. After some voyages as a troopship she was placed with the French Line in 1920 and renamed Montana. Originally on the West Indies service, in 1922 she started operating from Le Havre to New Caledonia via Panama.On 22/3/1928 she was wrecked on La Desirade island, Guadeloupe.
