EDINBURGH CASTLE (Direct Cruises)

Made her maiden voyage in 1966 as Eugenio C for Linea C /Costa. Used on both liner voyages to South America and cruising. In 1987 she was renamed Eugenio Costa. Sold in 1996 to the Bremer Volkan Shipyard as part of the payment for the newbuild Costa Victoria. From 1997 she was cruising for Direct Cruises as Edinburgh Castle. In 1999 the company defaulted and she was arrested in Southampton. Taken over and renovated by Cammell Laird she was chartered in 2000 to Premier Cruises as The Big Red Boat II. The company went bankrupt just 5 months later and she was laid up in Freeport. Sold to ship-breakers in India in 2005,

she is pictured moored at Southampton 1999 (under arrest?) astern of the Geest Line fruiter Belinda
