ELBE No.5
Sailing vessel built in 1883 as a pilot vessel, Elbe No. 5. Sold in 1929 to American sailor Warwick Tompkins who renamed her Wander Bird. In 1937 Tompkins, and his family, sailed her around Cape Horn to Sausalito in California. She stayed on the American Pacific coast until 2002 when she was purchased by the Hamburg Maritime Foundation and returned to Germany, restored and renamed Elbe. In June 2019 she sank after being in collision with the container ship Astrosprinter. Later raised and taken to the Hvide Sande shipyard, Denmark, for restoration.
