"The harbour entrance, Newhaven"
FALAISE (Southern Railway)
Passenger ferry built by Denny, Dumbarton. She made her maiden voyage in 1947 for Southern Railway operating between Southampton, St. Malo and the Channel Islands, later switching to the Southampton to Le Havre route. In 1963 she moved to Newhaven-Dieppe, and in 1964 was converted to a stern-loading car ferry. In 1973 she returned to the Channel Islands, now operating out of Weymouth. Suffering regular mechanical problems she was deemed too expensive to repair and at the end of 1974 went to Bilbao for breaking up.
