HMS GIRDLE NESS

Built by Burrard Dry Dock Co, Vancouver, she commissioned in to the Royal Navy in 1945 as HMS Penlee Point. Intended as a maintenance ship for landing craft in the Pacific, she was instead used as an accommodation ship at Rosyth. Decommissioned in 1952 she was rebuilt as a trials ship for the Sea Slug missile system and re-commissioned in 1956 as HMS Girdle Ness. She finished this role in 1961 and was then used again as an accommodation ship at Rosyth. Decommissioned in 1970 and broken up at Faslane.
