GLUCKAUF (Norddeutscher Lloyd)

Coastal cruise ship built in 1913 at Stettin as the Bubendey, a 2-funnelled steamship, for Hamburg-American Line. Taken over by the German Navy in 1916 and returned in 1918. In 1930 she was sold to Norddeutscher Lloyd and renamed Gluckauf. Taken up as a hospital ship for the German Navy in 1939, Lazarettschiff F. Decommissioned in 1946 and returned to her owners and previous name. Rebuilt as a single-funnelled motor ship in 1954 and from 1960 she was operated under joint ownership with HADAG and renamed Kehrwieder and used on the Helgoland service. Sold to Soc. Traghetti del Lazio in 1963 and renamed Isola Del Sole. Renamed Anna Marie Lauro after sale to Agostino Lauro SAS in 1966. Broken up at Naples in 1986.
