NANTUCKET (Woods Hole, Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket Steamship Authority)
Built in 1957 as Nantucket she was the last steam-powered ferry in service on the eastern coast of the USA. Originally built with bow and stern doors for loading vehicles the bow door proved inoperable and was welded shut and replaced by a side door. In 1974 she was renamed Naushon and was withdrawn in 1987. She was then sold and converted into a casino ship under various names and at various locations in the Mississippi basin.
