Cruise ship built 1983 at St. Nazaire as Nieuw Amsterdam for Holland-America Line. Sold in 2000 to American Classic Voyages and renamed Patriot. When the company collapsed at the end of 2001, she was re-purchased by Holland-America and renamed Nieuw Amsterdam but remained laid up. Later in 2002 she was chartered to Louis Cruise Line and renamed Spirit, and after a refit they sub-chartered her to Thomson who named her Thomson Spirit. When Thomson Cruises were rebranded as Marella Cruises in 2017 her name reverted to Spirit but was shortly afterwards renamed Marella Spirit. After completing the summer 2018 season she was laid up at Piraeus and arrived at Alang 12/2018 for breaking up.
