SANTA ROSA (Grace Line)

Passenger liner built 1958 at Newport News for Grace Line as Santa Rosa and placed in service between New York and Central America. Laid up in 1971 at Hampton Roads, moving to Baltimore in 1976 After a long period of lay up she was sold in 1989 and rebuilt at Chalkis, Greece, as a cruise ship. She sailed 1992-1995 for Regency Cruises as Regent Rainbow. Between 1996 and 2012 she was owned by Louis Cruise Line, named either Emerald or The Emerald and sailing most of that time for Thomson Cruises. She was sold for scrap in 2012, despite meeting the SOLAS 2010 requirements.
