SAXONIA (Cunard Line)

Passenger liner built by John Brown, Clydebank, that made her maiden voyage for Cunard in 1954 as Saxonia, Liverpool (later Southampton) to Montreal service. Rebuilt 1962/1963 for dual liner and cruise ship role and renamed Carmania. Laid up in 1971 and sold to the Black Sea Shipping Company, renamed Leonid Sobinov. She originally made some Southampton to Sydney voyages and cruises for CTC before other charters and some (?) trooping. She was laid up in 1995 and scrapped at Alang, India in 1999.
