SHEARWATER 5 (Red Funnel)
RHS70 hydrofoil that entered service for Red Funnel as Shearwater 5 between Southampton and West Cowes in 1980. Cruising speed was about 32 knots. She was the last Shearwater in service and was finally withdrawn in 2000, and stored out of water at Cowes. Sold to a Malaysian owner in 2002, she and her sister Shearwater 6 made the journey to Malaysia under their own power. It is believed Shearwater 5 was damaged in the 2004 Boxing Day tsunami, but repaired and remained in service until sold in 2009.
