USS STATEN ISLAND
US Navy icebreaker built at San Pedro California that commissioned in to the US Navy in 1944 as USS Staten Island. She was then lend-leased to the Soviet Union and renamed Severny Veter. Returned to the USA at the end of 1951 she was renamed USS Northwind but renamed USS Staten Island early in 1952. In 1965 she was transferred to the US Coast Guard as USCGC Staten Island. Decommissioned 11/1974 and sold for breaking up.
