THE BIG RED BOAT II (Premier Cruise Line)

Made her maiden voyage in 1966 as Eugenio C for Linea C /Costa. Used on both liner voyages to South America and cruising. In 1987 she was renamed Eugenio Costa. Sold in 1996 to the Bremer Volkan Shipyard as part of the payment for the newbuild Costa Victoria. From 1997 she was cruising for Direct Cruises as Edinburgh Castle. In 1999 the company defaulted and she was arrested in Southampton. Taken over and renovated by Cammell Laird she was chartered in 2000 to Premier Cruises as The Big Red Boat II. The company went bankrupt just 5 months later and she was laid up in Freeport. Sold to ship-breakers in India in 2005.

Passenger liner built at Rotterdam that entered service 1959 as Rotterdam for Holland-America Line, transatlantic in summer, cruising in winter. Flagship of the line. Transatlantic voyages stopped in 1969 and she became a permanent cruise ship. In 1997 she was sold to Premier Cruises and renamed Rembrandt. The company ceased trading in 2000. Since 2010 after a 4 year restoration, as Rotterdam, she has been open as a combined Hotel/Museum/School in the port of Rotterdam.
