THE CAT (Bay Ferries)
High speed ferry built in 1997 by Incat, Moonah, Australia, as Incat 046. Upon completion she was chartered to TT-Line as The Devil Cat for service between Georgetown and Melbourne. Sold in 1998 to Bay Ferries and renamed The Cat placed in summer service between Bar Harbor and Yarmouth. In the 1998/99 off season she operated from Miami to Nassau and returned to this route 11/1999 but was then chartered to TT Line again for service in Australia and returned down under the following 2 northern winters as well. In 4/2002 she was laid up at Hobart as Incat 046 until 8/2003 when she was chartered to Tranzrail, New Zealand, for service between Wellington and Picton. For this she bore the name The Lynx but was not officially renamed. In 2005 she was chartered to the Government of Trinidad & Tobago for service between Port Of Spain and Scarborough. Originally still as Incat 046 she was renamed T&T Express in 11/2006 and the Government of Trinidad & Tobago purchased her outright in 4/2007. Suffered mechanical failure in 2018 and taken out of service. Sold to Spanish owners in 2021 but sank 4/2021, 800 miles from the Azores, when being towed from Trinidad to Vigo.
