Product information

ULSTER QUEEN
Passenger ferry built by Harland & Wolff in 1930 as Ulster Queen for the Liverpool to Belfast service. At the start of WW2 she maintained the service until 28/2/1940 when she ran aground off the Isle Of Man. Taken to Belfast for repairs she was then requisitioned by the Admiralty and rebuilt as an auxiliary anti-aircraft cruiser, including the removal of one of her funnels. Renamed HMS Ulster Queen she was purchased outright by the Admiralty and served on the Russian convoys, in the Mediterranean and in the Far East. Paid off in 1946 her alterations were such that it was prohibitive to return to commercial service and she was broken up.
