VEENDAM
Passenger liner built by Ingalls Shipbuilding, Pascagoula. She made her maiden voyage as Argentina for Moore-McCormack in 1958, New York to Buenos Aires. Laid up in 1969 and sold to Holland-America in 1972, converted to a cruise ship and renamed Veendam. Chartered to Agence Maritime International 1974/5 and renamed Brasil, resuming as Veendam after charter. To Monarch Cruise Lines in 1976 as Monarch Star, returning to Holland-America as Veendam in 1978. Sold to Bermuda Cruise Line in 1984 and renamed Bermuda Star, then to Commodore Cruise Lines in 1990 as Enchanted Isle. A hotel ship at St. Petersburg during 1994 as Commodore Hotel before resuming as Enchanted Isle. Sold for breaking up Alang, India, in 2003 under the name New Orleans.
