VEENDAM (Holland-America Line)
Maiden voyage as Argentina for Moore-McCormack in 1958, New York to Buenos Aires. Laid up in 1969 and sold to Holland-America in 1972 and renamed Veendam. Chartered to Agence Maritime International 1974/5 and renamed Brasil, resuming as Veendam after charter. To Monarch Cruise Lines in 1976 as Monarch Star, returning to Holland-America as Veendam in 1978. Sold to Bermuda Cruise Line in 1984 and renamed Bermuda Star, then to Commodore Cruise Lines in 1990 as Enchanted Isle. A hotel ship at St. Petersburg during 1994 as Commodore Hotel before resuming as Enchanted Isle. Sold for breaking up Alang, India, in 2003 under the name New Orleans.
VOLENDAM (Holland-America Line)
Passenger liner built at Ingalls Shipbuilding, Pascagoula, Mississippi, that entered service in 1958 as Brasil for Moore-McCormack Lines' South America service. Sold in 1972 to Holland-America Line and converted into a cruise ship, renamed Volendam. Chartered in 1975 to Monarch Cruise Line and renamed Monarch Sun but  the company was purchased by Holland-America in 1976 and she returned to the parent company as Volendam in 1977. Sold in 1983 to CY Tungs' Orient Overseas Line but sold on to Bahama Star Line in 1984 and renamed Island Sun. At the end of 1985 she started week long cruises from Tahiti renamed Liberté for the same owner. Sold in 1987 to American Hawaii Cruises but then sold on to Orley Shipping of Panama and was now operated by Bermuda Star Line, now renamed Canada Star. Renamed Queen Of Bermuda in 1989 and her owners were purchased by Effjohn International. In November 1991 she was renamed Enchanted Seas and operated out of New Orleans by Commodore Cruise Line. In 1996 she was sold to American V Ships and renamed Universe Explorer was converted for Semester At Sea service. Laid up at Hong Kong in 2004 she went to the breakers at Alang at the end of the year with one more name change, now Universe.
