WASA KING
Passenger and vehicle ferry built at Papenburg that entered service Rederi Sally in 1980 as Viking Sally, placed on Viking Line service between Stockholm and Turku. In 1990 she was renamed Silja Star on charter to Silja Line and at the end of that year was renamed Vasa King for Vasabatarna (Wasa Line). Sold in 1993 to be chartered to Estline and renamed Estonia for service between Tallinn and Stockholm. In the early hours of 28/9/1994 she sank in the Baltic Sea with the loss of over 850 lives. The bow visor had been torn off and the car deck flooded, but what caused this was not established at the official enquiry.
