WINNEBA
Passenger and cargo liner built by Swan Hunter for Bullard Kings' Natal Direct Line as Umgeni, entering service in 1938 between London, South Africa and Mozambique. Badly damaged in the bombing of Londons' docks in September 1940 but was repaired and shot down a German bomber in the Irish Sea 6 months later! Returned to service after the war she was sold to Elder Dempster in 1957 and renamed Winneba for Tilbury to West Africa service. Broken up in 1963.
