Product information

Passenger vessel built in 1907 by Delaware River Iron Ship Building & Engineering Works as Yale for the Metropolitan SS Co express service between New York & Boston. Following the demise of her owners in 1910 she was chartered to Pacific Navigation Co. for service between Los Angeles and San Francisco. Sold to Admiral Line in 1916, same service. Sold to the US Navy in 1918 for use as a transport. Sold to Los Angeles Steamship Co in 1920, Los Angeles to San Francisco again from 1921. Laid up at Antioch, California, in 1936. Used as a barracks ship at Sitka, Alaska, from 1940. Taken over by the US Navy in 1943 and renamed USS Greyhound. Laid up at Olympia, Washington, in 1948 and broken up at Stockton, California, in 1949.
